The Energy Cone Technique is unique because of the speed and ease with which it brings emotions and negativities to the surface. These realisations are subsequently removed with the intention of the conscious mind. ECT is non invasive, non intrusive, and may be used as a completely confidential technique. A key aspect of the technique is that it has the ability to raise awareness of any unconscious emotion. Whereas therapies and techniques are conventionally associated with 'negative' issues that my be confined or trapped within the unconsciousness, the Energy Cone Technique has equally released unappreciated positive emotions resulting in great joyousness and a sense of exhilaration and well being. There is no necessity for either the therapist or the client to know details of the trauma or event in order to effectively release it from the system.
The Energy Cone Technique focuses on the discovery of Energy Cysts, or Cones, predominantly in the palms of the hands and the dispersal and elimination of the trapped energy represented in the cyst. It can be applied to consciously acknowledged problems, but more often than not it is applied to the unknown issues that lie beneath our consciousness and give rise to all manner of our problems and show as stress, distress, self esteem issues, phobias and traumas, and much more.
The Energy Cone Technique is a beautifully simple technique to learn and practice because it is entirely natural, following the direct evidence of physiological feedback. It is an experientially based system. It may also be used as a self-help tool.
The Energy Cone Technique may be used alone, or in conjunction with other techniques.
What is an Energy Cone?
An energy cone is an energy cyst, and an energy cyst is a concept to describe an area where energy is compromised or interfered with.
Our brains have the ability to take a snapshot of the state of our bodies when significant traumas (and as later experiences show), and joys occur. The 'memory' of the event is retained not just within our brain cells, but within points in our bodies. The points where this memory occurs are called cysts (or cones). We adapt to these and learn to live with them, mostly without even appreciating it. However, this coping mechanism causes our bodies to be less efficient and in consequence the onset of disease, mental discord and possibly spiritual discomfort sets in. Therefore, an energy cone is a tiny (often pin head size), aberration on the body.
The hands contain a massive proportion of the whole body's tactile awareness and sensitive capacity. For this reason the palms are used as the vehicle for the technique.
What does an Energy Cone Technique session involve?
Sessions should be varied to suit the needs of a client. It is not essential or necessary that a strict and inflexible regime is followed. ECT can be used in conjunction with emotrance, EFT and other treatments. Nonetheless there are certain activities that should always be conducted. These are as follows:
· The practitioner should be properly trained by an organsation accredited by ASCB(E) and listed at www.irqao.com
· The practitioner should have a code of practice readily available or displayed in their treatment rooms.
· A full questionnaire should have been taken prior to treatment in order to ensure no conflicts with other treatments or medical practice. Notes should be taken by the practitioner and retained.
· It is common for the practitioner to hold the hand of the client and to examine the palms. It is not essential that this should happen but is desirable. The practitioner should always ask permission before touching the client.
The foregoing are the professional actions that should be expected, therafter:-
· The client should be sitting comfortably.
· Some ideo-motor response testing may be undertaken.
· The practitioner would hold the client's hand and would look at the palm, perhaps even feel the palm with the tip of the fingers in order to sense / feel energy cysts or cones.
· The practitioner may well be able to detect cones that the client is / was unaware of. Even so, when detected, the practitioner may stroke or gently tap (called palpating), the cyst. The practitioner would then ask the client where else in their body it is felt. Sometimes clients need a little time to tune into their bodies but a good practitioner will ensure a comfortable environment whereby this is best able to be achieved.
· The practitioner would keep their fingers on the cone also asking the client to focus on the sensation within their body's and request they try and 'soften' or dissipate it.
· The practitioner, when detecting the cone may ask the client if they knew what events caused the sensation to be held in the body? (A strong point to note here is that the client is not required to voice what the event was. It can be remembered and thought about without being spoken. The client will be encouraged to speak about their feelings whilst the practitioner would continue to palpate the energy cone until it is undetectable.
· This process is repeated until the practitioner detects a total diminishing of the cyst which then causes the practitioner to move across he palm seeking other cysts to dissipate.
· Further ideo-motor testing may be undertaken to test the effectiveness of the treatment.
It is not unusual for significant emotional releases to be experienced.

The Energy Cone Technique was developed by Tom Wynn of Dublin Ireland. Ms Sally Canning of Innersolutions-UK based in Worksop, England has been responsible for the management and structure of training materials and for achieving accreditation of the technique from ASCB(E). This was essential in order for insurance cover to be possible for practitioners.
Training can be achieved by contacting Sally at www.innersolutions-uk.com.
